It's crucial to keep in mind that simply setting up a datafeed doesn't mean we can forget about it and assume everything will work smoothly. Datafeeds require regular checks to ensure that the data continues updating into the Xplan site from the platform without any issues. This article explains how to monitor the progress of the datafeeds, identify any issues, and troubleshoot them.
Data feeds require monitoring and checking to ensure that each day the data continues to flow through into your site and update your client accounts. There are three key steps in order to ensure that the data is coming in and is correct. The first stage is to ensure that the data feed is running for that particular provider. Then make sure that all clients and accounts are coming through and mapped to the appropriate records within Xplan. Once all records are mapped, the data will then need to be checked to ensure that this continues to be reconciled and identify any stale records that are no longer updated.
The first step of troubleshooting Datafeeds is to confirm that the data is updated into Xplan. The key areas to review are that the Provider is active and supplying data. If this is not providing any data, then check the adviser mapping and confirm this is correct. Once this has been addressed then check to ensure that the data is now coming through into Xplan.
The steps confirm how to check each area can be found here.
After the datafeed has completed, the next step is to review any exceptions. This will ensure that all clients and accounts provided are mapped correctly in Xplan, so that as many clients as possible receive updates. The Reconciliation Summary will flag any records that are incorrectly displayed and provide options to resolve positions that are out of balance. Instructions on how to resolve exceptions can be found here.
At this stage, you have confirmed that the Datafeeds are running, the Adviser Mappings are setup correctly and all exceptions are resolved. The next step is to review any records that are no longer updated by Datafeeds within Xplan in this article.
