If you want to add details to your FUM report that you cannot obtain as part of the standard Management Reports, you could utilise Xport.
If you are unsure how to use Xport, please view the following.
Although I will not detail all of the fields you could add in alongside this, I will detail the data sources available that allow you to obtain FUM data into a CSV (Note that the standard Management Reports are also available in CSV, the Xport option is useful where you want to add more funds).
To get to the holding data detailing the value and the Under Management flag, you need the following data source structure in the Xport.
- Clients
- Portfolios (Child of Clients)
- Subfunds (Child of Portfolios)
- Subfund Valuations (Child of Subfunds)
Useful fields for a simple Xport could be:
- Key Details > Entity Name
- Subfunds > Account Name (This is the Portfolio Account description)
- Subfund Valuations > Under Management
- Subfund Valuations > FUM Value
As the Under Management flag is at holding level, if an account has multiple holdings, the portfolio account will list multiple times. You can use a pivot table within the output to summarise this simply.
The report will output all portfolio options, you will need to filter this by Under Management within the output.
FUM by Datafeed
If you wish to understand which holdings have been created by Datafeed, you can obtain this in Xport by adding a further Data Source to the above of Transaction Details.
Every transaction added to Xplan by our IressNet platform (datafeed) has an IressNet reference attached to it. You can see this at client level by going to a clients portfolio area > transactions > external ID. If you cannot see this column, use the cog to add it to the list.
On the Xport above, add the following fields using the Transaction Details datasource:
When you run this version, it will add a line in for every transaction added so before running, you may wish to add a filter to it for specific transaction dates. Alternatively, you can output the entire amount to Xport and use Excel features such as filters, conditioning and pivot tables to summarise the data.
