Part four of a six-part guide to setting up, monitoring and troubleshooting datafeeds in Xplan.
Corporate Actions can change the way a portfolio should look in Xplan. These events include, but are not limited to, dividends, distributions, buy-backs/takeovers, rights issues, bonus issues, share splits and consolidations.
A datafeed platform may or may not supply corporate action transactions to affect the holding or cost base in Xplan.
- Broker (Contract Note only datafeeds) do not supply the required transactions. Please refer to the Available Datafeeds guide to identify
- Some platform datafeeds supply corporate action events, however some events may not work in a way Xplan expects and can create reconciliation and reporting issues. It is important to check whether these corporate action transactions align with your reconciliation and reporting standards.
Broker (Contract Note only datafeeds)
For such platform datafeeds it will be necessary for the corporate action events to be processed through Xplan. This can be run against one client portfolio, against multiple holders of a security or automatically across eligible portfolios.
The client portfolio settings will need to be enabled to ‘Allow Application’ for them to be captured in the corporate action event. Please refer to the Manage Portfolio Accounts guide to enable this setting
- An automated corporate actions schedule can be enabled to process Income events (dividends and distributions) and can reduce repetitive work. The broader setting deserves particular care because all clients I can view may include clients of other advisers. Automatic processing is convenient, but it should sit inside a documented business process with clear ownership and exclusions.
Please refer to the Automatic Corporate Actions guide for steps on how to enable this
📒 Not all corporate action events can be run using the automated process due to the complexity of some events. Please refer to the Xplan | Portfolio | Bulk Corporate Actions guide for further instructions
- To apply the corporate action event at client or Security level, please refer to the Run Corporate Actions guide
Platform datafeeds
Some platform datafeeds supply corporate action events, however some events may not work in a way Xplan expects and can create reconciliation and reporting issues. It is important to check whether these corporate action transactions align with your reconciliation and reporting standards.
Should you decide that the transactions supplied in the datafeed have not met your requirements, you can utilise the corporate action event template in Xplan.
This will require the removal of data feed supplied transactions, enabling and disabling the client portfolio corporate action setting and applying a date lock on the client portfolio.
Please refer to the Datafeeds | Corporate Actions | Event Template Processing guide
📒 Certain steps in the process guide must be completed individually, as bulk options are unavailable.
Review Data
It is important to review the client portfolio to ensure that the data is reconciled and aligns with your reporting standards.
