Overview
Based directly on user feedback, we have introduced Report Grouping and Quick Search Filtering—a feature designed to make finding, running, and managing your essential reports easier than ever.
Whilst the quick filter will be available immediately, the grouping will need to be enabled by your site administrator. Without the grouping being enabled, the current order of your Xports will be unaffected.
Key features
Instead of scrolling through a long, flat list of report titles, your reporting dashboard is getting a modern structural upgrade:
- Instant Quick Search: A new dynamic search filter at the top of the screen allows you to type any report or category keyword to instantly filter your list on the fly.
- Collapsible group headings: You will be able to enable your Xports to automatically bundle into clear, expandable category headers based on how you and your team think about them (such as Client, New Business, or Liability etc).
- Cleaner Report Titles: Xplan will automatically strip out repetitive prefixes so you see clean, easy-to-read report names under each category header.
- An "Other" Catch-All: Any individual or custom reports that don't belong to a specific group will sit neatly in an "Other" section at the bottom, ensuring nothing gets misplaced.
Why we made this change
As your business grows, so does your library of custom and standard reports. Navigating a single, endless list of titles takes up unnecessary time. This update is designed to:
- Save Time: Find the exact report you need in seconds using search or collapsible categories.
- Reduce Clutter: Keep your screen organised so you and your teams can focus on key business data at a glance.
- Improve practice consistency: Help site administrators standardise how reporting is structured across your entire firm.
When you are ready
To ensure a smooth transition when enabling Xport grouping, here are three simple things your practice can do:
- Decide Your Group Names: Think about the main categories your team uses daily (e.g., Client, FUM, Review, Compliance, Workflow).
- Pick Your Separator Character: Site administrators can choose one standard character—a bar (|), a hyphen (-), or a colon (:)—that Xplan will use to split report titles into groups.
- Audit your report titles: Take a quick look at your custom Xport titles today. Renaming them ahead of time using your chosen prefix and separator (e.g., renaming "Basic client details" to "Client | Basic details") means your reports will group automatically the moment your site administrator enables the setting in System Settings.
When will this be available?
- Released in Xplan Version: 26.9.498
