Did you know you can exclude the 2% aged care retention fee from the standard Consolidated Cashflow screen and Cashflow Summary in Xtools+?
Feedback from advice teams was pretty clear on this one: Displaying the fee as a cashflow transaction can cloud a client's actual day-to-day liquid cash position.
Because the fee is deducted directly from the Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD) by the aged care facility, while treating it as an inflow and outflow can create a more complete picture of aged care costs, it can also clutter the pure cashflow view. The new option to exclude the retention fee option lets you present a cleaner, liquid cashflow presentation without extra noise.Â
How?
For clients who entered residential aged care after October 2025, you can toggle the retention fee off from the aged care input screen. Â
- Retention fees remain included by default to ensure complete record-keeping.Â
- Toggle the option off to hide the withdrawal and expense rows completely from Consolidated Cashflow and Cashflow Summary (they will also be excluded from totals). Â
- The underlying asset projections will still show the RAD reducing each year by the retention amount.Â
💡 Toggling this off will not affect Visualise. To ensure you can continue modelling aged care fees in Visualise, the underlying retention transactions remain fully visible within the Visualise: Cashflow, Income and Expenses screens.
How are your teams handling aged care presentations with clients? Do you prefer keeping the full fee trail visible or toggling it off for a pure liquid view?
