For all you coders out there, did you know there is a dedicated Xmerge Library in the Iress Community that houses a collection of pre-built templates, code snippets, and technical guides?
Most site admins and paraplanners have felt the frustration of staring at a blank Word document trying to remember the exact syntax for a complex table or conditional logic string.
Instead of starting from scratch or trying to "frankencode" old templates, you can use the library to find proven snippets that other experts are already using. It is designed to take the guesswork out of coding so you can get your documents looking exactly how you want them without the dreaded trial and error. (“SOA Version 2.7455a feetable.docx“ anyone?)
How?
You can access the repository directly through the Iress Community:
- Go to the Our software menu.
- Select Xplan.
- Click on Xmerge Library.
Xmerge Library
If you have ever had a chart merge into a document and look slightly "off" in scale, this guide shows you exactly how to fix the dimensions using code.
💡Pro Tip
If you are a newer team member or if you haven't done much heavy template work lately and need a refresher, check the "Coding Essentials" section within the library. It contains the links to a series of videos that are perfect for getting you on track. It is a much faster way to get up to speed than trying to figure out Xmerge logic manually.
And don’t overlook the Xword toolbar functionality.
