Overview
We will be releasing an updated fact find wizard and output template on the date shown above. This will be added to the following managed sites in the UK region (please check the URL of your Xplan site in your browser if you are unsure whether this applies to you):
- XplanCentral
- XplanCentral1
- XplanCentral2
- ThreeSixty
If you are on XplanCentral3, you will recently have received the final elements of these updates.
Features
- In accordance with FCA guidance, a new standard Xplan field will be added to capture your client's consent to your recording of their vulnerability information. The new field is labelled "Client consents to recording vulnerability".
- We will also add text to each field, informing your team that the data is recorded for internal information only.
- In addition, a tooltip has been added to two fields explaining their correct usage: -
Field |
Tooltip text |
Reasons for vulnerability |
This field is used to record internal details of the client’s vulnerability and will not appear on any client facing documents |
Mitigation for vulnerability |
This field is used to record client facing details of any mitigation taken for a client’s vulnerability. This will appear on client facing documents and be labelled as ‘Additional support required’ |
- We will also introduce some optional help text to the fact find wizard. A new question will be introduced - "Do you need help completing the wizard?". When this is answered "Yes" (it will default to "No" to avoid it getting in the way of experienced users), the help text will be displayed in blue as shown below.

- The following fields will also be introduced after having being introduced for the standard Key Details screens already: -
- Key Details > Preferred Pronoun
- Health and Lifestyle > Financial Knowledge
- Health and Lifestyle > Capacity for loss
- An estate section will be introduced which allows you to capture information about the client's will, beneficiaries, executors and powers of attorney.

- An additional notes section will also be added

- A new GDPR section will be introduced

Report output / template
- Styling - you are now able to style the individual fact find report output. See below for more information.
- The individual fact find report will contain tables to better present client and partner details alongside each other
- The order of the fields in the report will match the order in the wizard
- The order of the pages in the report will match the order in the wizard
- All of the vulnerability-related fields will be contained in the blank version of the report, so that notes can easily be made if that's your preference
- In the full fact find report, only one field relating to vulnerability will be shown. When the field ‘Client consents to vulnerability’ is set to Yes, the contents in the ‘Mitigation for vulnerability’ field will be displayed in the ‘Additional support required’ text box.
Styling
You are now able to style some of your reports more extensively. Some of the key styling settings will be set once, for your firm, and then be applied to all of your report outputs. Please bear with us as we introduce styling options to each report.
Although you’re able to have your own styling options, there will be some defaults available ‘out of the box’. We would suggest that you run a report against one of your clients to see what these default options look like.
However, to make best use of the fact find, we would recommend you consider what styling options you’d like to apply to your report. There will be some constraints on what is possible, due to the amount of data you want to show versus the space available, but we can guide you on this if needed.
Notes:
- From the date shown above for your site, we will be amending the default table format. This may mean that, if you’re using the existing fact find, you see a change in your table format. If you’d like us to change this, please raise a ticket with Support and we will change it for you
- Note that Smart Styling settings are intended to be used across a variety of artefacts / documents for consistency. Not all of the documents you have access to use these settings yet, but we will improve this coverage over time.
What elements can I style?
We’re able to style the following aspects of the report if you don’t want to keep the default settings: -
- Corporate logo - the position of your logo on the front page of reports (Left, Center, Right).
- Font type (Arial, Calibri, Verdana, Tahoma,
- Font, size and colour for Main text (subject to the volume of data you want to include in the report)
- Text alignment, colour and size for Cover Page
- Text Alignment, colour and size for Headings 1, 2 and 3
- Table format - bespoke tables to match your corporate branding (options for first and last row shading, borders and row striping) TIP: *For optimum view of the fact find report we recommend not to include borders in your table format
New Default Table Format

If you have previously set your own table format this will continue to be displayed.
To change any of these options, please raise a Support ticket and we’ll make the change for you.
