Overview

This article described our Essentials propositions.  It explains how to tell what proposition your organisation has signed up for and touches on the differences between 'Xplan Essentials' and 'Xplan Essentials +'.

As a user on XplanCentral3, the quickest way to understand what proposition you are using is to ask the colleague who deals mostly with us.  If they’re not around, it’s easy to find this out for yourself:

 

  • Click on your user name in the top right of your screen: -

  • In the left hand menu, go to My details > Xplan package.
  • Your proposition name is shown in the Package Selection field - this will be either “Xplan - Essentials” or “Xplan - Essentials +”.

What's the difference between 'Xplan Essentials' and 'Xplan Essentials +'?

 

We’ll answer a different question first - what do they have in common?

As an Essentials user of any type and on any site, you will all benefit from: -

  • The same standard solutions (which can be personalised in terms of styling and some content options) for: -
    • Valuation reports
    • Fact find wizards and templates
    • Menu structure and screen design
    • Management reports
    • Workflows (case threads)
    • Email templates
  • Full site management - e.g: -
    • User management (new users / amendments / deletions / terminations
    • Regular security audits on the site (internal Iress audits as well as external audits)
    • Maintenance of choice fields including product providers
    • Activation of integrations, where needed
    • Creation of unlisted funds where needed
    • Bulk data moves (e.g. moving a bank of clients from one adviser to another)
    • Updates to your Client Portal configuration
    • Etc

Xplan Essentials + allows you to create solutions which are even more tailored to your organisation and also take advantage of more advanced product features.  

 

You may have become used to the fundamentals of Xplan and are ready to get even more value out of the technology or want to maximise the benefit of the technology you’re using.

 

If you have either have in-house technical expertise or a third party consultant on hand who can support it, you can create custom configured solutions, including: -

 

  • Workflows - case threads / tasks which guide your team through your processes, taking them automatically to the relevant place in the client record, triggering email notifications, pre-populating client data points or generating client-facing reports
  • Letters - templates specific to your company which pull in client data from Xplan
  • Management information reports (e.g. creating your own Xports)
  • Hierarchy - e.g. if you need to segregate your clients / users into groups to restrict visibility
  • Alert rules - automated jobs which run across your client data and highlight inconsistencies and gaps

 

There are also more advanced product features you can take advantage of within Xplan Essentials +, including: -

 

  • Xtools+ Cashflow - an advanced lifetime cashflow planning solution
  • Portfolio and net worth information via Client Portal
  • A more extensively configured Client Portal fact find
  • Xplan Mortgage - a specific application designed to support mortgage and protection advice
